Travel to the University of Birmingham
Air: Birmingham has its own international airport: Birmingham International Airport (BHX). From the airport, the University may be reached by taxi, rail or car – see below.
Taxi: The airport is about 10 miles drive away from the university. It is between 30-40 minutes by taxi to the university, the price is approximately GBP 30.
Rail: Birmingham Airport has its own railway station, which is called Birmingham International. It can be reached from the Terminal via a people mover train called Air-Rail Link. The University of Birmingham has a railway station on campus, which is called University. The university railway station is about 5-10 minutes walk away from the conference location. University railway station can be reached with one change at Birmingham’s main railway station, Birmingham New Street. Trains to Birmingham New Street, are about every 20 minutes. The journey time from Birmingham International to Birmingham New Street is between 10-20 minutes, depending on the type of train service. Trains from Birmingham New Street to University are about every 10 minutes and the journey time is also about 10 minutes. The cost is GBP 3.60 or less, depending on the time of travel.
Car: Birmingham is well connected to the motorway network. The M6, M42, M40, and M5 build a ring around the city. The University is in the south-west of the city. The closest main road to the Edgbaston Campus is the A38, Bristol Road. There are limited car parking spaces available on campus; visitors may use the Pritchatts Road Car Park on Pritchatts Road, see attached map. The Universities postcode is B15 2TT.
